John P Affronti, MD

Gastroenterology
Dr. Affronti, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, obtained his Bachelor's Degree from George Washington University and a Master’s Degree in Pharmacology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He returned to George Washington University for his medical education and residency. Subsequently he was invited to do his GI fellowship at Duke University where he conducted experiments involving shockwave lithotripsy and its application toward GI disorders. He also developed an expertise in treating biliary and pancreatic disorders under the supervision of Dr. Cotton and Dr. Baillie who are world renowned in this field. His training also included an apprenticeship under Dr. Leung at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong. Dr. Affronti was invited to join the faculty at Tulane in 2016 as Clinical Chief. His responsibilities include overseeing the clinical activities of the GI Division including the endoscopy & advanced endoscopy services
