Should your baby develop any problems or require critical care, Tulane Lakeside Hospital for Women and Children in Metairie, La., is uniquely equipped to take care of your newborn at our Level III Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
In addition to our highly skilled neonatologists, our NICU is staffed with neonatal nurse practitioners who work with our doctors to provide 24-hour care, seven days a week. Our unit is also staffed with Registered Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists, Social Workers and Child Life Therapists. These individuals make up an interdisciplinary team to provide one of the most comprehensive plans of care available in the New Orleans area.

Tulane Lakeside Hospital for Women and Children also has a highly skilled Neonatal Transport Team that can transport critically ill newborns to our Level III Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, utilizing either ground or air transportation.
